WEATHER FORECAST

Not a cloud will dirty the beautiful blue sky today, allowing for a

wonderfully warm reading of 83 in Costa Mesa. Newport Beach can expect

the same sun-drenched afternoon with a high of about 80.

Overnight, the clouds will continue leaving the Newport-Mesa area

alone, all the while creating a wondrous low of 66. But don’t look

Friday, for the clouds may rear their ugly moisture-ridden selves.

BOATING FORECAST

Some dense smog might hover around the harbor in the early morning

with light wind blowing. Come afternoon, the westerly wind will pick up

to 10 to 15 knots with 2-foot waves and a mixed western and southern

swell of 5 feet. Not much will change at night and the dense fog may

return.

Out farther, the northwesterly wind will blow 15 to 25 knots,

generating winds of 3 to 4 feet and a mixed northwestern and southern

swell of 7 feet. The same conditions will be encountered at night and the

dense fog will roll in.

SURF

The waves have returned in fair condition in the form of waist- to

shoulder-highs with the occasional 5-footers. A combination of southwest

and northwest swell is to thank for the decent surf. The same conditions

should be expected Friday while the weekend surf results in smaller

waves.
