Boys soccer: West resigns as Newport boys soccer coach
NEWPORT BEACH - Matty West, who guided the Newport Harbor High boys
soccer team to a pair of third-place finishes in the Sea View League, has
resigned after two seasons as coach to accept a teaching job and
assistant coaching role at Mater Dei, Newport Athletic Director Eric
Tweit said Wednesday.
West’s Sailor teams were 12-14-11 and split their two CIF Southern
Section playoff games, both in the 1999-2000 season.
The Tars tied Sea View rival Irvine for third place last year, but
lost a tie-breaker and missed the playoffs.
