The Huntington Beach City Council is expected to vote at its Aug. 20

meeting on whether to allow public works to set up a new sewer service

fee.

If approved, the fee would raise $5.6 million to pay for sewer

maintenance, cleaning, videotaping lines and maintaining and cleaning

lift stations. Another $700,000 from the general fund would be used for

the work as well.

The rate would lower costs for all of the city’s customers, said

Deputy Director of Public Works Paul Emery.

“The charges are adjusted accordingly; every customer category will be

charged less than originally planned,” Emery said.

Those categories include residential, apartment [including mobile

homes], regular commercial/industrial, high consumption

commercial/industrial and public schools.
