Allan Stafford Tingey, a longtime Newport Beach resident, died of a

heart attack Tuesday. He was 82.

Mr. Tingey was born in Salt Lake City on June 27, 1919. The World War

II veteran served as a vice president of both Arden-Mayfair and Ralphs

grocery stores and, in retirement, owned Newport Beach Travel. He was

also active in the Rotary Club of Newport-Balboa, for which he was a past

president.

He is survived by wife of 61 years Adele Peterson Tingey; children

Jess Lincoln and Toni Richardson; grandchildren Christian Gladwell and

Lindsay Killmer; and sisters Beverly Cottingham, Joyce Painter and Janice

Truesdell.

Memorial services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of

Latter-day Saints, at 4601 Bonita Canyon Drive, Newport Beach, at 11 a.m.

Saturday. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation be made to the

Rotary Club or to the Pasadena Y’Men YMCA.
