Briefly in the news
The pilot of a twin-engine plane aborted takeoff Wednesday morning at
John Wayne Airport.
The pilot, who was not identified, pulled his plane back onto the
runway about 10 a.m. after the nose wheel of his plane blew out during
takeoff.
The plane, a PA-31 Navajo, was using the airport’s 2,887-foot runway
to head southward. The runway is the shorter of the two at the airport.
One passenger was inside the plane at the time. No one was injured in
the incident.
After the landing, the plane was towed off the tarmac and brought to
the airport’s maintenance shop, an airport spokeswoman said.
