THE WEATHER FORECAST

If lying out on the sand, watching the clouds roll by as the last days

of summer crawl along sounds like fun, then you’re in luck. Today is one

of those warm, sunny cloud-watching days.

The warmth will start early today, with temperatures expected to rise

to 71 at 9 a.m. Doesn’t sound like much, but when you add the 75%

relative humidity, you can expect it to feel closer to 77.

The ultraviolet index will hit 7 at noon, fading by 3 p.m. to a rate

of 4. That doesn’t mean you can skimp on the sunscreen though. If you

relax your guard, you’re likely to get burned -- at least skin deep.

It’ll feel like the 80s, but look like the 70s all afternoon long.

A high of 81 will be reached at 3 p.m., dropping down into the lower

70s after night falls.

THE BOATING FORECAST

Light winds will blow during the morning close to shore. That is

expected to change in the afternoon with a southwest wind coming in at 10

knots. Wind waves are expected to reach 1 foot. The winds near shore will

most likely lighten and become variable overnight.

In deeper waters, expect light winds to blow northwest at 10 to 15

knots by afternoon. There may be wind waves building to 2 feet. These

conditions are expected to stay pretty much the same overnight.

SURF

It’s not a bad day to surf. The water temperatures are expected to be

in the 70s. The waves should reach 2 to 3 feet -- knee- to waist-high. A

few standout sets are expected. But in any case, it’s just a nice day to

be on the water.
