Women’s Volleyball: Anteaters grab first win of season

CRAWFORD HALL - Junior Chanda McLeod led the UC Irvine women’s

volleyball team to a sweep of Manhattan college, 30-18, 30-23, 30-24, for

the Anteaters’ first win of the season in the Marriott Sunset Showcase at

Crawford Hall Sunday.

McLeod dominated the match, pounding 15 kills, firing five service

aces and collecting 13 digs. The outside hitter slammed .538 on the day

recording only one error in 26 attempts. Freshman Kelly Wing added 13

kils and nine digs for the Anteaters (1-2) to help drop the Jaspers to

0-3 on the season. UCI sophomore Brenda Waterman, a Newport Harbor High

product, contributed four digs as did junior Jamie Pilbeam.
