Vanguard posts 3-1 victory

The Vanguard University women’s soccer team posted a 3-1 victory at

Concordia University Tuesday in a Golden State Athletic Conference

opener.

Vanguard struck first with a 20-foot goal from Jenae Welsh, who took a

pass from Nicola Avila, just four minutes into the fray.

Six minutes later it was 2-0, thanks to a Brittany Braun goal, which

was scored off a deflection.

Concordia sliced the lead in half on an Evelyn Miles goal with 20

minutes left in the half and it remained 2-1, Vanguard, until the 76th

minute when Annie Jacobs put the game on ice with a long shot into the

corner of the net.

Vanguard improves to 3-4 overall. Concordia falls to 3-4.
