Youth soccer: Rebels and United Blue tie

The Rebels and United Blue battled to a 1-1 tie in an AYSO Region

97 boys Division 3 soccer game Saturday.

Jonathan Gordon led the Rebels’ offensive attack with a goal. Benji

Pepic, Sergio Rodriquez, David Garrett, Renice Davis and Alex Boullon

also took shots on goal.

Jeremy Lewis, Ethan Bartolic, Phil Garrett and Logan Schuttenlhelm

turned away many offensive attacks by United Blue. Cameron Lewis, Patrick

Etter, Edgar Torres and Brian Wong played strong in midfield. Renice

Davis and Alex Boullon split time in the net.

* In boys under 14, the Fire remained hot with an 8-4 win over a

Corona del Mar Region 57 team. Thomas Harrington, Nick Hendriks and Luke

Sequeira scored for the Fire. The Fire extended its lead with three goals

from Donny Hunt late in the game. Hendriks had five assists. Ian Fowler

stood his ground in the net. Jake Liddicotte, Brennen Snow-Czubek, Will

Prioleau, Nick Weil and Justin Whisler chipped in on defense. The Fire

remains undefeated after four games.

In boys Division 4:

Lightning Cobra 8, Raiders 2 - The Raiders put in a good effort with

two goals from R.J D’Cruz. The team trailed 3-2 after the first half, but

the Lightning Cobra took over from there. The Raiders had good

performances from Brandon Rowley and Spenser Baratto. Forwards Peter

Nguyen, Morgan Lintz and Jeff Cefalia had some good shots. Brett Adams,

Jordan Hovis and Collin Dennis held their own on defense. Goalie Chris

Gutierrez made some solid stops, including some diving saves. The ball

was moved well by midfielders Jeff Newman and Mitch Bancroft.

In boys Division 5:

* The Blue Sharks lost, 5-3, but had good efforts from Mychael Clark,

who scored three goals, and goalkeepers Jamie Davis, Dante Crivello,

Phillip Sheffield and Nathaniel Stein-Zucker. The defense was led by Alex

Arthur, Cody Holter, Casey Chapman and Domenic Re. The Blue Sharks are

1-1.

* In boys Division 6, the Zap-Dragons lit it up with goals from Quest

Truxton and Montgomery Faigen. The team received late goals from Sean Cox

and Nick Shallahamer. Chris Dinatale and Joey Gregory made some great

passes. Garrett Spurth helped on defense.

* The Destroyers put in a solid effort in their game, receiving goals

from Hamilton Randle and Christopher Sheppard. Jack Murrel had an assist.

Jesse Torres played well on defense. Teddy Barry and Sean Regan had shots

on goal and James Jarvis led several attacks.
