Roadrunners soar past Blue Thunder

The Roadrunners on Saturday overcame a slow start by finishing fast

and went on to post an 8-4 victory over Blue Thunder.

Matthew Steinhaus and Kyle Zekaria each scored three goals to lead the

Roadrunners. Roland Moder and Matthew Stickler each scored once. The

passing of Joel Gilbert and Anthony Nguyen aided the scoring.

Andrew Flores, Nicholas Gregory and Daniel Resnick paced the defense

and Joey Mena and Nicholas Carrigan made several saves in goal.

The Roadrunners came back Monday to tie The Surf. Roland Moder scored

in the first quarter off a strong throw-in from Steinhaus. Stickler

completed the Roadrunners’ scoring in the third period and Zekaria came

up with several steals on defense.

Purple Lightning 4, Thunderbolts 2

Danny Thibodeaux led the way with three goals and Anthony Gruppie had

three fourth-quarter saves to insure the victory for the Purple

Lightning, who improved to 4-0.
