Cub Scouts Scott Evans and Kyle Copenhaver of Huntington Beach pack

101 presented the colors at Seacliff Elementary school during the

National day of prayer and remembrance. Scott led the students in

reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Anne Buccols, a fourth grade teacher

sang the Star Spangled Banner and This Land is Your Land. . . . Navy

Petty Officer third class Joshua D. Kimber, son of Barbara M Kimber of

Huntington Beach, recently completed the Navy Nuclear Power Training Unit

course at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Unit in New York.

Kimber received instruction about nuclear theory, chemistry, physics,

reactor operations, safety and security. Upon completion of the course

Kimber was given a position of nuclear propulsion plant operator. . . .

Army Reserve Pfc. Adrian K. Walas has graduated from the traffic

management coordinator advanced individual training course at Fort

Eustis, Newport News, VA. Walas is the son of Henryka Walas of Huntington

Beach and the late Jerry Walas. . . . Army Spc. Geraldo Quijano graduated

from the OH-58D helicopter repair course at Fort Eustis, Newport News,

VA. He is the son of Jose and Petra Quijano of Huntington Beach. . . .

Army Pvt. Todd K. Hansen graduated from basic combat military training at

Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of David Hansen of Huntington

Beach and graduated from Ocean View High School in 2000. . . . Marine

Corps Pfc. Luis A. Torres recently completed basic training at Marine

Corps Recruit Depot, Paris Island, SC. Torres successfully completed 12

weeks of training designed tochallenge new Marine recruits both

physically and mentally. . . . Navy Petty Officer third class Trevor L

Young, a 1998 graduate of Ocean View High School, recently completed the

Navy Nuclear Power Training Unit course at the Naval Nuclear Power

Training Unit in Newport News, VA. He received instruction about nuclear

of Linda Sladek of Huntington Beach completed basic training at Marine

Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Stahnke successfully completed 12 weeks

of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and

mentally. . . . Jeanette Kaye of Huntington Beach won the award for the

Best Woody with her 1948 Ford Super Deluxe Woody wagon during the recent

Endless Summer Classic Car show at the Elvis Fest held at the Orange

Count Marketplace. Elvis impersonator Kirk Wall was on hand to resent the

award.
