Youth soccer: Bad Hair Day defeats Lime Devils, 5-1

Bad Hair Day had a good week in the AYSO Region 120 under 12 girls

division. The team defeated the Lime Devils, 5-1, on Saturday with goals

from Amy Holt, Bridget Gleason, Cori Patelski, Taylor West and Diana

Gonzalez. Megan Kipp scored for the Lime Devils.

Bad Hair Day also picked up a win on Sept. 20. The team beat the

Tsunamis, 4-0. Gleason scored twice and Lauren Kipp and West each had

goals.

Lindsay Tinnion, Paige Wallace, Jamie Surdyka and Genesis Rivas had

strong efforts at midfield and on defense.

In boys under 13 APP:

* The Costa Mesa boys APP team faced a tough Mission Viejo team, but

came out with a 2-1 victory. Mesa’s Hayden Hiatt scored the only goal of

the first half. Also contributing on offense were Austin Evett, Rigo

Miranda, Starnes Arnold, Matt Grella, Benny Edles and Kenneth Zich. Mesa

pulled out the win on a penalty kick by Caleb Burgess. The Mission Viejo

offense was kept under control by goalkeeper Thomas Kosnosky. Mesa’s

defense was anchored by Ben Abbott, Alberto Nava, Caleb Burgess, Luis

Cozza, William Briseno and Adam Seagondollar.

In boys under 10:

* Team Quicksilver 0, Team USA 0 - Rigoberto Perez and Devin Guthrie

took a number of shots on goal for Quicksilver and were supported by

Scott Alvarado, Robert Blackwell, Cody Childers and Jonathan Miranda.

Kohl Jones, Tyler Schiltz, Scott Wanger and Andrew Roth played well in

net.

* Wolverines 4, Green Dragons 1 - Marc Jones and Marc De Frenza scored

goals for the Wolverines. Kevin Kiser and Robert Rutan had assists.

Taylor Sutton, Eduardo Espinoza, Edwin Gonzales and Ryan Barnett

controlled the persistent attacks by the Green Dragons. Jose Espinoza,

Ricky Williams, Evan Edison and David Nava worked hard in midfield.

In girls under 10:

Crushers 1, California Stars 0 - The Crushers had support from forward

Jessica Naja, Nicole Marlborough, midfielders Vanessa Green and Shaylen

McNulty. The defense was led by McKayla Sullivan, Morgan Pautsch and

Rebecca Mclean. Natalie Seckel had an assist and Teeny Cathey had a goal.
