Thomas Rummel has been appointed chef of Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill, a

272-seat restaurant now open at South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. Rummel’s

duties will include overseeing the kitchen staff, maintaining Z’Tejas’

commitment to serving high-quality cuisine, developing new menu items and

also overseeing food costs and inventory control. Previously, Rummel was

the chef of Z’Tejas in Tempe, Ariz. The South Coast Plaza location at

3333 Bristol St. marks Z’Tejas’ California debut.... Russ Klop was named

operating partner of Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill, the “casual upscale”

restaurant at South Coast Plaza. Klop will be responsible for supervising

the restaurant’s day-to-day operations and ensuring the eatery lives up

to the high standards set by the company’s president, Michael Archer.

Klop previously served as general manager for Claim Jumper and Tony

Roma’s restaurants. . . . Grubb and Ellis Co. has announced the hiring of

commercial real estate veteran August J. Napolitano as the executive vice

president and managing director of the firm’s Newport Beach office.

Napolitano joins Grubb and Ellis from Prologis Trust, where he was vice

president for Global Services. Napolitano is very active in the

community. He is a member of the Advisory Council for the Mariners

Christian School in Costa Mesa and was chairman of major gifts trustee

for the Irvine Barclay Theatre. He is married with three children and

live in Corona del Mar. . . . Kathleen Fox has joined Donahue Schriber as

a senior leasing representative at the real estate firm’s Costa Mesa

office. Fox will be responsible for Southern California shopping centers,

such as Anaheim Plaza and Anaheim Hills Festival, and Clairemont Town

Square in San Diego. She was twice named Broker of the Year by the Irvine

Co. in 1995 and 1999. Fox previously worked for Strategic Retail Advisors

in Newport Beach and for the Retail Commercial Division of CB Richard

Ellis Inc., in Newport Beach. Some of the projects she has worked on

include the Irvine Spectrum Center, Corona del Mar Plaza and the Century

Stadium Plaza. . . . KOCE-TV, Orange County’s public television station,

has selected Newport Beach-based Madeline Zuckerman Public Relations

Marketing Inc. for the station’s public relations and special events in

Orange County and Palm Springs areas. KOCE-TV ranks in the top 20 of 350

public television stations nationwide in total viewership. Madeline

Zuckerman Public Relations & Marketing Inc., owned and operated by

Madeline Zuckerman, is a full-service marketing communications company

offering marketing programs for clients in a variety of industries,

including retail, food service, medical, financial, restaurants, real

estate and home furnishings. . . . Navy Reserve Chief Petty Officer

Victoria A. Street, a 1974 Costa Mesa High School graduate, has received

her second Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal while assigned to

Naval Reserve Air Station in Pensacola, Fla. As a training supervisor,

Street managed and created his unit’s Web page.
