Ayso Region 57: Mako Sharks devour Kings
Chris Freeman scored three goals as the Mako Sharks took a bite out
of the Kings to earn a 4-3 victory in an AYSO Region 57 Division 5 boys
soccer game on Saturday.
Ryan Peyton also scored a goal and Sebastien Welch had an assist and
two saves. The Mako Sharks received defensive support from David Fenner,
Saahm Aresh, Cameron Koppel, Taylor Battram, Ian Massoth and goalkeeper
Chandler Mitchell.
The Mako Sharks were without key player Nick Taormina, but still
managed to remain unbeated. The impressive play of John Doering and
goalkeeper Peter Anastos kept the Kings in the game.
In boys Division 3:
* Spitfires 3, Stingers 2 - Andrew Dialynas scored three goals in the
first half to help the undefeated Spitfires earn their fourth straight
win. Jack Tyson had a few assists for the Spitfires. The team received
solid defense from Philip Bannan, Russell Mycorn, Andrew Garten, Scott
Feeley, Anthony Morreale, Shian Jalali, Grant Heffernan, Alex Neff, Casey
Adamczyk, Jeffrey Livingston and Trevor Swinney.
In girls Division 4:
* Strikers 2, Tsunami Surfers 1 - Alisha Agrellas and Madelyne Todd
scored for the Strikers. Rene Mycorn made many saves in net. Solid
performances were turned in by Chloe Rome, A.J. Rome, Sarah Wesley,
Caitlin Roberts, Blake Gardner, Corinne Treadaway, Julie Hassman, Leah
Greenbaum and Morgan Wiener.
In boys Division 6:
* The Blue Rapids took on the Bulldogs in their third game of the
season. Jack Gorab led the Blue Rapids offense with two goals. Daniel
Hohl and Josh Giger each scored a goal while Nick Molinaro and team
captain Matt Larson anchored the defense. Zach Murtaugh returned from a
leg injury with a strong game in net.
* The Green Machine powered up against the Bronkos. Davis Case and
Blake Grable scored goals for the Green Machine. Brent Lawson and Cort
Hastings had assists for the team. C.J. Nugent also contributed on
defense.
* The Rockets blasted off against the Leapin’ Lizards with goals by
Kevin Hoffman and team captain Andrew McCormack. Joe and Erik Ctvrtlik
and Jack McBean moved the ball well through the midfield. The team
defense was in good hands with Ben Paul in goal and Josh Schwartz and
Hunter Heckendorn on defense.
In boys under-10 action:
Newport Storm 1, Lightning Bolts 0 - Nicholas Rich scored the only
goal while Karl Fletcher and Randall Mycorn made key saves to earn the
shutout. Ned Atkins, Austin Barvin, Mathew Crittenden, Taylor Epp, Misha
Pakvasa, Pat Schoenberg and Justin Tucker were tough on defense.
In girls under-10 action:
* Chicklets 3, Green Geckos 2 - Alexi Kun, Brynn Johnson and Madison
Simmonds scored for the Chicklets. Kirby Burnham had two goals for the
Geckos. The Chicklets’ defense was anchored by Alexa Cohen, Jillian
Taylor and Jennifer Vogel. The Geckos received strong play from Annie
Raifeitz, Kelsey Kaezmarak and Sophie Solow.
In boys under-7 action:
* The Blue Gators had their best showing of the season with goals
scored by Will Fortier, Matthew Sherburne and Tomo Andry. Solid defense
was provided by Jonathan Harzan, Bryce and Carl Johansson, Richie Lamas
and Paul MacCabe.
* The Sharks held on strong against the aggressive Gators. Lance
Seger, Logan Piper and Andy Lewis helped contain the Gators’ offense.
Teddy Parks scored back-to-back goals for the Sharks in the second half.
In girls under-7 action:
* The Blue Dolphins faced the Green Geckos at Harbor View Saturday.
Kristina Brown scored five goals, Grace Kennedy scored two and Olivia
Dajee scored one. Maddie Hayward also scored a goal and a few assists.
Goalkeepers Emelie Frojen and Sara Machoskie provided strong defense with
the help of Lauren Fox and Emily Kirsch.
