Ayso Region 97: Green Shockers face Wild Things
The Green Shockers battled to a 3-3 tie with Wild Things in an AYSO
Region 97 girls under-10 soccer game on Saturday.
Kasey DeYoung made several key passes and scored two goals for the
Green Shockers. Cailea Eisenberg also contributed on offense with a goal.
Goalkeepers Valentina Buonanoce and Sadye Busby stood their ground in
net. Britney McIntosh, Becky Gula, Jillian Paul, Jessica Hensley and
Hannah MacLeod played well on defense. Sydney Clayton, Bonnie Sykes and
Stephanie Havens contributed offensively.
In boys under-14 action:
* United Blue 8, Fire 2 - Jon Mena (three goals), Geoff Gustafson,
Kevin Gowdy, Sebastian Crivello, Brennan Davis and Josh Acosta scored
goals in United Blue’s first victory of the year. The defense was led by
Kyle Williams, Chase Nelson and Brennan Davis.
* Fire 5, Team USA (Region 120) 2 - The Fire remained hot with
offensive power from Nick Hendriks (three goals), Chris Womble (one goal)
and Donny Hunt (one goal) on Oct. 3. Thomas Harrington and Jake
Liddicotte had assists. The defense was sparked by Jacob Silverman. Nick
Weil and Ian Fowler were solid in net.
* Team USA (Region 120) 4, Fire 3 - Team USA scored the winning goal
with five minutes left to play. Hunt scored three goals to lead the Fire.
Luke Sequeira and Liddicotte had assists while Nick Normandin, Will
Prioleau, Mike Madison, Brennen Snow-Czubek and Justin Whisler hustled on
defense.
In boys under-12 action:
* Forest Monkeys 2, Cobras 1 - Preston Davey had two first-half goals
to lead the Forest Monkeys. Spencer Smith, Christian Scott and Danny
Ingalls contributed with strong passing. Goalkeepers Timothy Regan and
Richard De St. Jean were solid in net. Leading the defense were Daron
Arnold, Tyler Beard and Michael Gracia. The midfield was dominated by
Nick Verdugo, Vinnie Finn and Tommy Hanrahan. Justin Faber and Taylor
Allee contributed on offense.
* Clowns 3, Raiders 1 - Andrew Kaban, Hayden Navarro and Tobin Olsen
each scored a goal and Eric Holland excelled in the net for the Clowns.
It was tied at halftime, thanks to an R.J. D’Cruz goal off an assist from
Raiders’ teammates Brandon Rowley and Jeff Newman.
In boys under-8 action:
* The Destroyers took on the Twisted Turtles. Teddy Barry, Adam
Yeomans, Sean Regan and Hamilton Randle scored goals. Jack Murrel had
assists. Christopher Sheppard and Jason Aviles made key saves in net
while James Jarvis provided solid defense.
* The Blue Magicians battled the Redcoats with Nolan Mena and Ryan
Shannon each scoring a goal for the Blue Magicians. Also playing strong
on offense were Kyle Regan, who had two scoring chances, and Trevor
Magana. Tyler Kiehnle, Paul Tadross and James Littlefair contributed on
defense.
In boys under-7 action:
* Blue Sharks 1, Stingers 1 - Fullbacks Daniel Albert and Keith
Carmichael made key plays on defense. Albert launched the ball deep into
the Stingers’ territory several times. Adam Varasteh, Robert Boullon and
Jack Clement persistently pounded the Stingers’ defense. Riley Ricker
drove the ball well on offense.
