TODAY

Free screenings for depression and post-traumatic stress disorder on

National Depression Screening Day will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at

Grace Lutheran Church, 6931 Edinger Ave. in Huntington Beach. Counseling

Connections is sponsoring the event that happens to fall on the one month

anniversary of the terrorist attacks. The day will also include an

educational presentation and give participants an opportunity to consult

free Cultural Diversity Festival 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 in Central

Park behind the library. The library is at 7111 Talbert Ave. between

Gothard and Goldenwest. There will be music and dance entertainment by 18

groups representing various cultures. Ethnic food will be available.

Country Fair Boutique with gift items and a silent auction. Dorcas

Preston will sing and a motivational speaker will talk about peace in the

The Huntington Beach Adult School is offering a free Caregiver

Training class on caregiver support, resources and information on

long-term placement options. The class will be held Saturdays starting at

The Moms Offering Moms Support Club, a nonprofit support group for

stay-at-home mothers, organizes daily activities for mothers and their

children including park play days, fun field trips and age appropriate

play groups. Special interest activities just for mom are included. Every

month, members perform service projects to assist several organizations

A parent education group will meet in 8- to 10-week sessions. The

group is sponsored by Affiliated Counseling Services and will focus on

manage parental stress. Parents will discuss appropriate discipline and

Jewish Family Service offers free ongoing bereavement support groups

for adults at all stages of loss at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and 1
