Marauders back in win column
Having suffered through a pair of tough 2-1 losses in their most
recent outings, the Marauders got back into the win column by defeating
the Splash, 4-1, in AYSO Region 143 boys’ Under-14 Division play.
Stryder Huff netted three goals to lead the victory and Kenny Rosen
scored once, but the key to the victory was the play of the Marauders
defense and goalie David Ocampo.

Under 10 Division
Green Gators 1, Blackhawks 1
Tyler Madas scored for the Green Gators and James Simpson scored for
the Blackhawks as the teams fought to a tie. The defenses were led by the
Green Gators’ Austin Plotnik and John Sims, while Alex Willingham,
Harley Shoffner, Nick Marshall, Thomas Gross and Cale Usher lead the
Blackhawks.
Region 117 Roadrunners 6, Destroyer Aliens 1
Joel Gilbert and Matthew Steinhaus scored two goals apiece, Roland
Moder and Kyle Zekaria each scored once and Nicholas Carrigan and Anthony
Nguyen keyed the defense in the Roadrunners’ victory.
Rebels 2, Manchester United 2
Aaron Stratz scored once and had an assist, Scott Mackie and Tom Avent
each scored and Clint Peront paced the offense for the Rebels.
Slugs 3, Rebels 0
Robert Rahon and Colin Carroll led the Rebels in defeat.
Girls’
Region 143
Black & Blue Bruisers 3, Surfers 0
Giuliana Cefalu, Courtney Morris and Kelli McLin all scored in the
game’s first five minutes to lead the Black & Blue Bruisers to their
third win in a row. Defenders Taylor Mead, Brittany Fuller, Kelsey
Hollenbeck and Paige Norris helped secure the shutout.
The Bruisers also beat the Bombers, 4-1. Cefalu and Andrea Stange each
scored twice. Lindsay Mangan scored for the Bombers.
Region 55
Under-10 Division
Blue Tidal Waves 5, Region 55 2
Katie Bogard scored three goals and Devon Shinn added the other two to
lead the Blue Tidal Waves at Sun View School in Huntington Beach.
Bogard, Shinn and Kirsten Maroney led the offense and Nicole Camarillo
and Meghan White powered the defense as the Blue Tidal Waves have opened
the season 5-0.
Region 117 Bait 4, Big Red 0
Dana Livingston and Amanda Patrick each scored two goals as Bait
defeated the Big Red out of Region 56. Ashley Bent recorded her fourth
shutout of the season and Bait won its sixth straight match. They have
outscored their opponents, 28-6 and currently are ranked first in the
South Orange County League.
