Coast women win in five

Orange Coast College’s women’s volleyball team remains unbeaten

after surviving a five-game scare from visiting Riverside CC Friday night

in Orange Empire Conference play.

The Pirates, who improved to 10-0, 4-0 in the OEC, pulled out a 30-20,

29-31, 30-21, 27-30, 15-9 victory.

OCC had a 24-18 lead in Game 4, but the Tigers’ Stephanie Burks ran

off 11 straight points to lead the Riverside surge.

In the deciding fifth game Krystle Davis had four kills to pace Orange

Coast’s victory. She finished with 13. Katja Muller led Coast in kills

for the eighth time in 10 matches with 24, while Casey Petersen had 10.
