Women’s cross country: UCI takes fourth in Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The UC Irvine women’s cross country team
placed fourth of 27 teams in the 10th annual Chile Pepper Festival in
Fayetteville, Ark., Saturday.
Host Arkansas, the nation’s 10th-ranked team, won the meet with 44
points, Oklahoma State was second with 94, UC Davis was third with 157
and the Anteaters scored 165.
May Mortimer of Kansas State won the 6,000-meter competition with a
time of 20:56 on the Agri Park Cross-Country Course in Fayetteville.
UCI junior Tessa Cendejas finished 15th in 22:09, sophomore Julie
Manson was 36th in 22:28, junior Lisa Massoth was 41st in 22:33 and freshman Kaleena Yee was 44th with a time of 22:37.
Rounding out UCI’s top seven runners were junior Amanda Armstrong in
45th at 22:38, sophomore Jenna Keith in 97th (23:30), and sophomore Jenny
Liou in 106th at 23:38.
ANTEATER MEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY SQUAD PLACES 11TH AT CAL POLY SLO MEET
SAN LUIS OBISPO - The UC Irvine men’s cross country team finished 11th
of 15 teams at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo Saturday.
The host Cal Poly Mustangs won the meet with 48 points, California was
second with 93 and Southern Utah third with 130. UCI scored 230 points.
Cal Poly’s David Jackson won the 8,000-meter race with a time of
26:14.5.
Anteater junior Travis Morisoli finished 18th in 27:52.7 over 8,000
meters.
Senior Jon Doroski was 44th (28:27.9), freshman David Santos was 52nd
(28:36.3), and junior Brian Harrison was 61st in 28:55.0.
UCI freshman Thomas Harley was 78th in 29:32.7, senior Mike Arp was
84th in 29:46.0, and junior Rob Evans was 95th in 30:19.1.
