Girls tennis: Mesa musters two, loses

COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa High girls tennis team managed to win

two set victories, but that was all as visiting Laguna Beach scored a

16-2 Pacific Coast League victory Thursday.

Hilary Havens earned two singles victories for the Mustangs (2-10, 1-6

in the PCL). Mesa returns to action Tuesday for a 3:15 match at crosstown

rival Estancia.

Laguna Beach 16, Costa Mesa 2 Singles - Havens (CM) lost to Schulman, 1-6, def. Johnson, 6-2, def.

Miller, 6-2; H. Nguyen (CM) lost, 1-6, 3-6, 1-6; Hack (CM) lost, 0-6,

0-6, 1-6.

Doubles - Pham-Doan (CM) lost to Reid-Murray, 0-6, lost to

Butterwick-Sandnan, 1-6, lost to Phelps-Simons, 3-6; B. Tran-K. Nguyen

(CM) lost, 0-6, 0-6, 2-6; Maddox-T. Tran (CM) lost, 0-6, 1-6, 0-6.
