Mimi’s Cafe in Costa Mesa is encouraging elementary school children to
express what they are thankful for by entering a writing contest.
The “What I Have to Be Thankful For . . .” contest is open to all
elementary school children regardless of whether they attend public or
private schools or are home-schooled.
Writers will compete for the grand prize of a $1,000 savings bond.
Other prizes include $250 savings bonds and free dinner certificates.
Essays must be no more than one page and only one submission per
student will be accepted. Each entry should include the child’s name,
address, age, grade and school. A panel of 15 judges will review the
essays and award prizes in three categories.
Finalists will be invited to a luncheon at 10 a.m. Nov. 21 at Mimi’s
Cafe, 1835 Newport Blvd., Costa Mesa.
To enter, send an essay to: The Write Stuff, c/o Frank Groff, Inc.,
3730 E. Broadway St., Second Floor, Long Beach, CA 90803. Entries must be
received by Nov. 7.
