... Nick Iverson led a host of tacklers to stuff a kickoff return for a

1-yard loss ... Rothwell made the first hit on a 2-yard sack that also

involved nose guard Bryan Breland ... Mota led a brigade of tacklers to

stuff a run for a yard loss ... Outside linebacker Tyler Miller recorded

a 4-yard sack ... Outside ‘backer Dave Erickson led the pack on a tackle

for no gain ... Cornerback Brian Gaeta’s strong run support forced a

holding infraction ... Middle linebacker Cory Ray made two big hits on

the same series, both short gains ... Miller stuffed a draw for a 1-yard

COSTA MESA - Cornerback Tim Iller deflected a first-quarter pass into

free safety Nick Cabico’s hands for first of two Mesa interceptions ...

Cornerback Luis Gonzalez had the team’s other pick in the second quarter,

though his 33-yard return was nullified by a penalty ... Linebacker Keola

Asuega broke up a pass in the first quarter by timing his hit perfectly

on a receiver just as the ball arrived ... Tackle Doug Amburgey, whose

fumble recovery early in the second half set up a Mesa touchdown,

spearheaded a stop of a 3-yard loss ... Cabico, Gonzalez, Andrew Carich

and Jesse Cardenas all had tackles for short or no gains in the second
