Medical Center after he was hit by a car while crossing the street

Saturday.

Mark L. Leonhardt, 45, suffered major head trauma and injuries to the

upper torso when he was struck by a car on Beach Boulevard just before 8

p.m. Saturday.

He was crossing the road on foot just north of Chrysler Avenue, when

he was hit by a Toyota Corolla heading southbound by 33-year-old

Huntington Beach resident Vernon P. Burton.

right front of his vehicle,” said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Ron

Burgess. “He was driving at the posted speed limit.”

The speed limit in that area of Beach Boulevard is 45 mph.

Police came upon the scene and administered first until paramedics
