South Coast Repertory has announced that the theater will produce the
world premiere of Joe Hortua’s “Making It,” a drama about the people in a
New York restaurant and their searches, their dreams, their realities.
The play will appear on the Second Stage from Jan. 25 to Feb. 24.
David Emmes, SCR’s producing artistic director, will direct the
seven-member cast, which has not yet been chosen.

Balinese dance on tap for OCC professor
Linda Sohl-Donnell, an Orange Coast College dance professor, has been
awarded $15,000 to produce and perform a dance piece integrating Balinese
styles with Indonesian music and American tap.
The grant, awarded by the James Irvine Foundation of Los Angeles, will
allow Sohl-Donnell and her dancers to perform the work in such venues as
the California Institute of the Arts and the Japan America Theatre in Los
Angeles. Titled “Nusantara,” the piece will also be performed at OCC on
Feb. 23.
Sohl-Donnell has taught dance at OCC for 21 years and is the artistic
director and choreographer of the Los Angeles-based Rhapsody in Taps.
