Boys and girls cross country: Mesa boys earn one win
COSTA MESA - Costa Mesa High senior Irwin Salas ran to a
second-place finish to lead the Mustangs to a 21-34 victory over
University in a Pacific Coast League tri-meet at Mesa Thursday.
The Mustangs lost to Laguna Beach, 22-33, but were still able to place
three runners in the top 10 including Jose (16:38) and Carlos Ibarra
(16:44), who finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Mesa girls squad was led by Christine Bjelland and her
second-place time of 18:56, but the Mustangs lost to Laguna and Uni.
Eileen Bello took third (20:01).
