Corona del Mar High’s boys water polo team ran into Coronado in a

tournament final for the second time this season, and again the Sea Kings

came up just short to the San Diego County power.

An 8-6 loser to Coronado Oct. 6 at the Southern California

Invitational final at Heritage Park in Irvine, the Sea Kings dropped an

8-7 decision to the Islanders at the finals of the Tru-West Cal State

Memorial Cup Invitational at Bellarmine Prep in San Jose Saturday.

A 3-0 deficit in the first quarter proved decisive for Coach John

Vargas’ Sea Kings, who fell to 18-3 overall.

Artie Dorr and Michael March each scored twice for CdM. Marcello

Pantuliano and March stood out defensively with four and three steals,

respectively.

In the semifinal, the Sea Kings posted a 12-11 victory over Long Beach

Wilson in overtime.

John Mann and Dorr each scored four times. Dorr scored twice in

overtime. Also scoring in the overtime session was Matt Meyer.
