EDITORIAL
As a result of everything that has occurred on and since Sept. 11, we
all have been a bit edgy. We can only imagine it will carry over to
Halloween on Wednesday, when parents will be overly cautious with regard
to the treats their children eat.
And we can’t blame anyone for taking such necessary precautions. If
something such as anthrax can be transmitted from closed mail, we can
only imagine what someone could do with open candy.
So, to all those handing out goodies this year, please be cautious, as
well, and make sure the candy you hand out is store-bought and sealed.
While it may be genuinely a nice effort to hand out fruits such as
apples, try avoiding it this year. After all, they’re unwrapped and will
probably end up in the trash bin. Save your money.
As always, parents should trick-or-treat with their children and be
aware of what’s given to their little monsters and from whom. And when it
comes to emptying out the bags and pumpkins full of treats, please check
everything out this year.
Halloween’s a fun evening for everyone, and we want it to remain that
way.
