Men’s soccer: Lions finish with a win

Vanguard University earned a 5-0 victory Saturday over Hope

International in the Golden State Athletic Conference men’s soccer

finale.

Armando Ortiz and Ricky Wade scored goals to give the Lions (7-11-1,

4-6 in the GSAC) an early 2-0 lead.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Matt Hess converted a penalty

kick and, 12 minutes later, Ryan Sullivan scored his second goal of the

season with an assist from Beau Lawson.

With nine minutes left, Hess scored with an assist from Joakim

Ulfvebrand to seal the win.

The Lions end the season in eight place.
