Ayos Region 97: Stingrays battle Raptors

Rory Fleming, Ryan Braun and Griffy Clawson scored goals as the

Stingrays took on the Raptors in an AYSO Region 97 boys under-6 soccer

game Saturday.

J.J. Von Ahlfeld made solid blocks and Ian Baldwin dominated on

defense. Zach Buggeln contributed with an assist and Tommy Quin also

played well for the Stingrays.

In boys under-14 action:

Newport Rebels 4, Spitfire (Region 57) 1 - Renice Davis, Alex Boullon,

Benjamin Pepic and Sergio Rodriquez each scored goals. Brian Wong, Edgar

Torres and Cameron Kilmer moved the ball well in midfield. Ethan Bartolic

and Jeremy Lewis contributed on defense.

* United Blue 5, Ice (Region 57) 2 - Jonathan Mena scored three goals

to lead the United Blue offense. Geoff Gustafson and Joshua Acosta each

scored a goal. Kevin Gowdy had an assist. Tyler Wolk played well. The

defense was led by Chase Nelson and goalkeeper Brennan Davis.

In boys under-12 action:

* Hornets 8, Forest Monkeys 4 - Spencer Smith, Taylor Allee, Danny

Ingalls and Preston Davey each scored goals for the Forest Monkeys.

Offensive suport came from Timothy Regan, Vinnie Finn, Christian Scott,

Tommy Hanrahan and Michael Gracia. Midfield was controlled by Nick

Verdugo, Daron Arnold, Tyler Beard and Justin Faber.

* Costa Mesa Thunderbirds 3, Raiders 2 - The Raiders scored on goals

by Morgan Lintz and R.J. D’Cruz, with assists coming from Brandon Rowley,

Peter Nguyen, Jason Jacobi and Jorel Porcile at the Farm in Costa Mesa.

The Thunderbirds tied it up early in the second and and scored with less

than a minute to go to pull it out.

* Yellow Draft 3, Raiders 2 - R.J. D’Cruz scored off an assist from

Morgan Lintz to open tghe scoreing, and, with the score tied, 1-1, Jason

Jacobi scored off an assist from D’Cruz and Jeff Newman.

Peter Nguyen and Spenser Barrato stood out defensively for the

Raiders.

The Yellow Draft, from Region 57, scored twice in the second half to

pull it out.

In boys under-12 APP action:

* Newport Beach 2, Rancho Santa Margarita 0 - On Saturday at Mariners

Park, Newport Beach was led by the scoring of Taylor Friend and Brian

Siemonsma.

In boys under-10 action:

* X-Terminators 5, Mark Gerard’s team 2 - In a well-fought battle, the

X-Terminators were ;ed by the scoring of Will Connelly, Ryan Albert,

Dillan Freiberg, Brian Baca and Matt Russell. Richie Lowrey and Zach

Chocek scored for the opposition.

In girl under-10 action:

* Red Dogs 3, Purple Power 1 - Purple Power took an early 1-0 lead,

but the Red Dogs’ Kaitlin Keho scored on a cross pass from Marianne Jones

to tie the score. Goals by McKenna Cottam and Veronica McLean sealed the

win. The defense was led by Brianna Truxton, Zoie Verrall and Chelsea

Barth. Also contributing to the Red Dogs’ effort were Indy Tamplin,

Kendra Mann and Amy Kanotz. Goalkeeping duties were shared by Courtney

Francis, McLean and DeAnna Patel.

* The Zap-Dragons faced the Green Bombers. Quest Truxton, Nick

Shallahamer and Sean Cox scored goals. Joey Gregory and Chris Dinatale

made key passes. Montgomery Faigen made a throw-in to Garrett Spruth for

the final goal of the game.

In boys under-8 action:

* The Destroyers faced The Fireballs and were led by Hamilton Randle

(one goal) and Sean Regan, who scored with an assist from Jack Murrel.

Hayden Noakes and Jesse Torres also contributed on offense. Christopher

Sheppard took numerous shots on goal.

* The Blue Magicians were led by Nolan Mena (three goals) and Trevor

Magana (one goal). Also contributing on offense were Kyle Regan and Tyler

Kiehnle. The defense was anchored by Ryan Shannon in the net and Paul

Tadross and James Littlefair.

In boys under-7 action:

* The Blue Sharks (dark) took on the Blue Sharks (light). Robert

Boullon scored for the Blue Sharks (dark). Keith Carmichael played

goalkeeper for the first time and was solid in the net.

* The White Sharks battled the Green Torpedoes. Nicholas Pierce scored

a goal to lead the Sharks.

In girls under-6 action:

* The Power Kick Girls were led by goal scorers Torey Thompson and

Sabrina Norton. Tristen Thompson, Madison Echan and Birdie Crane were

strong on defense. Hannah Felfe and Juliette Myers contributed on

offense.
