Girls tennis: Braverman and Khoury clash today

IRVINE - Newport Harbor High’s Natalie Braverman and Diana Khoury

cruised to second round victories Wednesday and will meet in today’s

girls tennis semifinals of the Sea View League Individual Tournament at

Woodbridge High.

Braverman, the top seed, won in 26 minutes, 6-0, 6-0, while Diana

Khoury scored 6-1, 6-1 set victories. The teammates will face each other

at 12:30 p.m.

Khoury’s sister, Carmen, scored two victories to advance to today’s

semifinal and will face Woodbridge’s Elizabeth Exon, the tourney’s No. 2

seed.

In doubles action, Kelly Nelson and Krista McIntosh, the top-seeded

tandem, will play in a semifinal today after posting two victories

Wednesday.

Newport’s duo of Megan Hawkins and Bonnie Adams, the No. 2 seed, were

upset in their first match.

C. Khoury (NH) def. Paul (Laguna Hills), 1-6, 7-6, 7-5, def. Craig

(LH), 6-3, 6-1.

Semifinals, 12:30 at Woodbridge - Braverman vs. D. Khoury, 12:30 p.m.

at Woodbridge.

Exon (Woodbridge) vs. C. Khoury.

First round

McIntosh-Nelson (NH) def. Shaiu-Chen (I), 6-1, 6-1; Buder-Dunlap (NH)

lost to Roth-Williams (Woodbridge), 0-6, 3-6; Hawkins-Adams (NH) lost to

Paul-Smith (LH), 2-6, 3-6.

Second round

McIntosh-Nelson (NH) def. Litmanovich-Thompson (W), 6-1, 6-2

Semifinal - McIntosh-Nelson (NH) vs. Roth-Williams (W).
