WELLNESS FAIR: The Central Orange Coast YMCA will host a wellness fair

for the whole family from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 10. Featured

presentations will include two martial arts demonstrations by Japan

Karate-do Itosu-Kai Organization, a shoe clinic by Snail’s Pace and

Kathleen M. Campbell speaking on the topic of “Enhancing your Life.” A

variety of health and wellness exhibitors, guest speakers and

demonstrations will open to the public free of charge. There will be

drawings, prizes and food for everyone. The YMCA is at 2300 University

Drive, near the corner of Irvine Avenue and University Drive in Newport

Beach.

INTERFAITH CAFE: Congregation member or not, you are invited to

attend the eighth annual Religious Diversity Faire from 12:30 to 5:30

p.m. Nov. 10 at the Student Center at UC Irvine. With the theme of

“integrating spirituality into everyday life,” several panel discussions

will help attendees focus their small group dialogues on religion’s role

in health care, human resources, education, the marketplace and college

life.

GOATHILL GO GETTERS: Karen Schwandt of the Mesa Goathill Go Getters

reports that they had more than 100 visitors a couple of weeks ago at

Harbor Center, where the 4-H Club members display their various projects.

“We passed out 52 brochures and made 20 T-shirts for a community service

project for Shriner’s Hospital” she adds. 4-H is alive and active in our

community.

TRIP TO NO WHERE: Some 50 members of Amigos Viejos gathered Oct. 17

at the Newport Beach Country Club to board a bus for the annual “Trip to

No Where” planned by President Bob Gardner, Seymour Beek, Cameron

Crowner, Tad Devine, Roger Neth, Rick Othmer, Bob Robins, Bill Ring and

Jeff Wilcox, and executed by Rudy Baron. Up the San Diego Freeway we

went, then north on the Harbor Freeway, maybe to Olvera Street or

Chinatown some thought. Oops! The bus driver went the wrong direction on

the Harbor Freeway, so we exited and headed south, ending up for lunch at

the Alpine Inn at Alpine Village.

There we were entertained by a 10-piece German band while we dined on

a variety of Oktoberfest selections and sipped some German beer. Among

the attendees were Mike Schaefer, Ron Craig, Al Irwin, Beek, Norm Loats,

Dean Reavie, Bill Hamilton, Rick Williams, Bill Bluerock, Bob Gardner,

Bill Grundy, Chris Wynkop, Phil Glasglow and Clark Booth. With company

like that and the setting, it was a most enjoyable luncheon.

Crowns Restaurant for the official visit by District Governor Rod Eide.

6:30 p.m.: The Costa Mesa Newport Harbor Lions Club will meet at the

Costa Mesa Country Club for a business meeting.

WEDNESDAY

7:15 a.m.: The South Coast Metro Rotary Club will meet at the Center

Harbor Kiwanis Club will meet at the University Athletic Club.

Noon: The Exchange Club of the Orange Coast will meet at the Bahia

Corinthian Yacht Club for a business meeting.

Corinthian Yacht Club for the annual foundation dinner, featuring Jim

7 a.m.: The Costa Mesa-Orange Coast Breakfast Lions Club will meet at

Mimi’s Cafe to hear about “In-School Scouting.”

Newport Beach-Corona del Mar Kiwanis Club will meet at the Bahia

Corinthian Yacht Club for a Veterans Day program; the Exchange Club of

Newport Harbor will meet at the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum to hear
