More than 225 students and faculty members from Orange County’s high

schools are expected to take part in Orange Coast College’s 18th annual

High School Dance Day, scheduled for March 19.

The day, which includes dance classes and demonstrations of

choreographic studies, is sponsored by the school’s Dance Department.

Eight schools have confirmed attendance, but OCC’s dance professor

Amelie Hunter says there is still room for more.

SCR to offer ‘Power Play’ for kids

South Coast Repertory’s Educational Touring Production for 2002 will

be “Power Play,” a musical lesson on energy resources written by Richard

Hellesen and Michael Silversher.

The show will teach children what power is, but also how to conserve

it. Tours through Southland schools will begin Jan. 16 and run through

May 2.

SCR’s educational touring programs have brought important issues to

children through theater for 31 years. Hellesen and Silversher also wrote

last season’s “Bad Water Blues.”

Pacific Chorale names education director

Chris Allen has been appointed director of education for the Pacific

Chorale. The former Walt Disney employee will be responsible for the

chorale’s 16 music education programs.

The position of directorship was recently changed to a full-time job

to accommodate the 20,000 students influenced each year by the group.
