The Oasis Senior Center will have a flu shot clinic for people 60 and

older beginning at 8 a.m. Friday. Shots will be given until supplies of

serum run out or until noon, whichever comes first. The clinic will take

place at the center, 800 Marguerite Ave., Corona del Mar. (949) 644-3244.

Local charity has new supporter

Friends in Service to Humanity, a Newport Beach agency dedicated to

preventing homelessness, has a new friend in Momentum Textiles of Irvine.

The company has adopted the group as its corporate charity. The company

supplies industrial fabrics to the architectural and design contract

market and to the hospitality industry. The Friends delivers 52,000 meals

a year to Orange County residents and helps needy families pay rent and

utility bills. The group also helps people get groceries and holiday

toys. As a sponsor, Momentum employees will deliver meals on company time

and provide other assistance.

Garbage collection unchanged for Veterans Day

Newport Beach trash pickup will take place Monday despite the Veterans

Day holiday, city officials have announced. Street sweeping, however,

will not take place on the holiday.
