Jr. All-American Football: Pee Wee Seahawks earn decisive victory

The Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Football Pee Wee Seahawks shut

out the Westminster Lions, 47-0, in a first-round playoff game Saturday.

Erik Rask returned the first of his two interceptions 40 yards for the

Seahawks’ first touchdown. Robbie Lusk followed with a 25-yard touchdown

and Carlo Valdes ran 35 yards for a touchdown a few plays later.

William O’Brien capped the Seahawks’ scoring in the first half with a

5-yard touchdown run up the middle.

Lusk and Valdes added touchdown runs in the second half and Jake

Lemmerman scored the final Seahawks’ touchdown on a 30-yard run.

Tommy Folks, Brett Hanrahan and Will Brown made pass interception for

the Seahawks (8-1), who earned their fifth consecutve shutout.

The defense was led by Richie Sorenson, Chaz Vickery, Jon Tripi, Brice

Stillman, P.J. Simpson, Travis Prickett, Brian Lawler and Steve Deverian.

Contributing on offense were Taylor Sepulveda, Justin Elbourn, Keifer

Fairbanks, Bryce Jardine, Michael Jugan, Danny Malycky, James McKennon,

Corbin McNutt, Nick Reese, Frankie Russo, Jerry Whitney and Colin Wigely.

In other NMAAJF action:

* Corona Panthers 13, Junior Clinic Seahawks 6 - Austin Blodgett’s

first quarter touchdown run highlighted the Seahawks’ offense. Zachary

Firt, Buzzy Yokoyama and Tyler Henry were strong on defense. With the

playoff loss, the Seahawks end the season with 4-5 record. Blodgett,

Michael Taormina, Ben Greiner, Ryan Andrews, Firth, Graeme Fraser,

Yokoyama and Blair Luchs were solid in the backfield.

The offensive line was anchored by John Prickett, Andrew Machoskie,

Trent Anderson, Tyler Barbato, Murphy Bartling, Jack Kanen, Cassidy

Gatewood, Justus Gildart, Kyle Orton, Jason Wooding, Conor Quinn, Hunter

Durante, Eric Morris, Chasen McNaughton, Parker Eddy, Joseph DiCesare,

Jake Hall, Drew Hoffenberg, Henry, Reid Johnson, Kellon Truxton and Mario

Rosales.

* The Junior Pee Wee Seahawks were eliminated in the first-round of

the playoffs Saturday. The Seahawks completed more than 50% of their

passes while throwing for three touchdowns. The team ended the season

with a 1-7-0 record.
