Tennis: UCI’s Endrikat advances twice

LOS ANGELES - UC Irvine men’s tennis standout Jonathan Endrikat

advanced to today’s semifinals in singles and doubles in the Southern

California Intercollegiate Championship at the Los Angeles Tennis Club.

Endrikat and freshman sensation Brian Morton, a Corona del Mar High

product, won two matches Friday and will face top-seeded Tobias Clemens

and Lassi Ketola of UCLA in the semifinals today at 2:30 p.m.

“Brian’s really coming along,” UCI Coach Steve Clark said.

In singles, Endrikat defeated UC Santa Barbara’s Marcin Kosakowski,

7-6, 4-6, 7-5, in the quarterfinals Friday and will face second-seeded

Andrew Park of USC today in the semifinals at 1 p.m. Endrikat upset

fourth-seeded Calle Hansen (Pepperdine) in the second round.
