Community college women’s basketball: Hatsushi drains game-winner

SAN BERNARDINO - Nancy Hatsushi drilled a game-winning

three-pointer with under 25 seconds left to lead the Orange Coast College

women’s basketball team to a 67-65 consolation victory over Ventura in

the Chaffey Tournament Saturday.

Hatsushi, a Costa Mesa High product, nailed the long-distance shot

after taking a pass from Lindsey Galasso. Hatsushi scored 11 points,

while Galasso led with 13 to help the Pirates earn the win over Ventura,

last year’s state champion.

Freshman Charlenda Van Buren also added 11 points. The Pirates (1-1)

will play in today’s consolation final at 11 a.m.
