Trash collection will not take place in Newport Beach on Thanksgiving

Day. Garbage will be collected on the day after Thanksgiving, Nov. 23, in

areas that normally have trash pickup on Thursdays. Street sweeping will

be halted for both days: Nov. 22 and 23. For more information, call the

OASIS offers dancing, live music on Fridays

Dancing to a live band takes place every Friday at OASIS Senior

Center, 800 Marguerite Ave., Corona del Mar. Other events for seniors

Republican women to discuss terrorism preparations

Newport Harbor Republican Women will take a look at ways Orange County

can prepare for biological or chemical terrorism at its next luncheon

meeting beginning at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Bahia Corinthian Yacht

Hoag adds new resource library

Hoag Cancer Center in Newport Beach has announced it will open a new

resource library where patients and visitors can access information on

cancer and treatment. Materials available at the library will include

books tailored to children, biographies of cancer survivors and

information about cancer advocacy groups. Most books can be checked out

and some will be available for purchase. The library, with an opening

date that has not been announced, was made possible by a grant from the

Komen Foundation and a $150,000 donation from the Sandpipers. Hoag Cancer
