Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Stephen E. Rodriguez, son of Elizabeth

and Lawrence Purnell of Costa Mesa, was promoted to his current rank

while serving at the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command in Goose Creek,

S.C. Rodriguez was promoted for superior job performance and proficiency

in his designated specialty. He graduated from Estancia High School in

2000. . . . Marine Corps Pvt. Arturo I. Estrada, son of Isidro Garcia

Estrada of Costa Mesa, completed basic training at the Marine Corps

Recruit Depot in San Diego. The 12-week training course included

instruction of first aid, marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, combat water

survival and weapons training. Estrada and fellow recruits finished the

12 weeks with a 54-hour team effort and problem-solving scenario. Estrada

is a 2000 Estancia High School graduate. . . . Marian Jansen op de Haar,

the wine director at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in Newport

Beach, released the restaurant’s top 10 wines list. She revealed that red

wines are the most popular at Fleming’s restaurants across the United

States, accounting for 60% of all wine sales. Cabernet sauvignon is the

best-selling red wine, with 23% of Fleming’s total red wine sales. White

wines at Fleming’s account for more than 40% of the restaurant’s total

wine sales. Chardonnays account for 22% of Fleming’s white wine market,

with sauvignon blancs holding 9% of total white wine sales. Fleming’s was

recognized for its progressive wine program by Food and Wine magazine and

Wine Spectator magazine. The restaurant’s wine list features 100 wines. .

. . The Small Business Administration will present its Administrator’s

Leadership Award to Bob Teller, president and owner of Tel Phil

Enterprises, which operates the Orange County Market Place in Costa Mesa.

Teller will receive the award at a ceremony and brunch Nov. 24 at the

Orange County Market Place. The award, a large glass-inscripted trophy on

a mahogany base includes a proclamation from President Bush and honors

Teller’s time, energy, commitment and passion for leadership in small

business development. Teller received the Entrepreneur of the Year Award

from Inc. Magazine and Ernst and Young in 1989. . . . Newport Beach

resident Paul Kelsey was promoted to project manager for the Irvine-based

Ware Malcomb architectural firm. Kelsey joined the firm in 1997 and has

more than eight years of architectural experience, including consulting,

forming construction documents, graphic design, project management and

construction administration. The firm specializes in planning,

architecture and interior design.

FOR THE RECORD: A Neighbors item that ran Oct. 31 said Frank Foster

joined the Fieldstone Group of Cos. Foster is president and chief

executive of the group, but recently joined the board of directors of the

Fieldstone Foundation.
