Jr. All-American Football: Pee Wee Seahawks dominate

The Newport-Mesa Junior All-American Football Pee Wee Seahawks

earned their sixth straight shutout by defeating the Bellflower Broncos,

20-0, in the second round of the playoffs Saturday.

Carlo Valdes put the Seahawks (9-1) on the scoreboard in the first

half when he took a pitchout from quarterback Taylor Sepulveda and ran 30

yards for a touchdown. Key blocks were made by William O’Brien, P.J.

Simpson and Colin Wigely.

In the second half, Robbie Lusk secured the victory with touchdowns on

runs of 10 and 20 yards. The offense was led by Corbin McNutt, Bryce

Jardine, Justin Elbourn, Keifer Fairbanks, Nick Reese, Frankie Russo,

Jerry Whitney, Jake Lemmerman and Danny Malycky.

Pass interceptions were made by Jon Tripi, Tommy Folks, Erik Rask and

Valdes. Also contributing on defense were Richie Sorenson, Brice

Stillman, Chaz Vickery, Travis Prickett, Steve Deverian and Will Brown.

In other NMJAAF action:

* Junior Midget Seahawks 32, South Bay Packers 0 - John Angelo sparked

the Seahawks’ offense with three touchdowns on runs of 12, 50 and 38

yards. Matt Reiger concluded the scoring on a 45-yard touchdown reception

from Matt Hauser.

The offensive line led by Delano McKenzie, Matt Lutton, Lou Truxton,

Ricky Sepulvada and Tony Jones dominated the line of scrimmage allowing

Bret Crowley, Mike Orosco, Matt Loyd and Angelo to pile up more than 250

yards rushing. The Seahawks play the Compton Titans in the third round at

Fountain Valley High Saturday.
