Rebels blank Celtics, 5-0

Displaying strong teamwork Tuesday night, the Rebels, a boys’ Under-12

Division soccer team out of AYSO Region 117, whipped the Celtics, 5-0.

Aaron Stratz contributed three goals, Steve Mais and Scott Mackie

scored goals, Dustin Crain and Tom Avent had assists and Robert Rahon and

James Hensley keyed the defense.

Under-10 Division

Asteroids 5, Thrashing Hurricanes 0

A balanced attack by the Asteroids featured goals by Ben Simons, Bobby

Kunkel, Conor Reynolds, Taylor Nelson and Matt Horgan. Nicholas Carrigan

and Joey Mena combined for the shutout and Anthony Nguyen also played a

strong game defensively.

Roadrunners 4, Hurricanes 2

Matthew Strickler scored two goals and had an assist, Matthew

Steinhaus scored twice and Roland Moder had an assist to lead the

Roadrunners.

REGION 56

Jail Breakers 5, Cold Fusion 2

Collin Provost scored a hat-trick, Tyler Crocker and Clayton Brown

each scored once, and Provost, Crocker, Brown and Ri Hansler all had

assists as the Jail Breakers defeated Cold Fusion for the second time in

two weeks. Kyle Campana scored both goals for Cold Fusion.

REGION 143

Marauders 4, Carnivorous Clowns 1

After surrendering an early first period goal, the Marauders finished

the game with four straight goals to get the win. Stryder Huff scored

twice and Kenny Rosen and Phillip Battis each scored once and the

defensive play of Michael Long, Josh Saylor, Joseph Hole, Josh Bebek and

goalie David Ocampo keyed the win.

GIRLS’Under-12 Division

Title Waves 4, Sparks 3

Following a scoreless tie at the end of regulation play, Jessica

Brunner, Kelsey Ferry, Kelsie McInnes and Joanna Steinhaus each put the

ball into the net in a shoot out to lift the Title Waves to another

playoff victory. Jamie Freeman secured the win by knocking down three of

the Sparks’ six shots on goal in the shootout.

Title Waves 1, Extreme Team 0

Jessica Brunner was credited with a goal in the 12th overtime to lift

the Title Waves to their first playoff victory.

Orange Crush 4, Title Waves 2

Jessica Brunner scored both goals, including one off a midfield

strike, and halfback Bet Rafferty had one assist for the Title Waves.

Under-19 Division

Bait increased its win streak to 10 games by rolling past Region 56,

3-0 and Region 143, 8-0, and will play Saturday for the division

championship.

COAST SOCCER LEAGUE

HB Lightning 2, Mission Viejo 0

In their final game of the regular season, Aubrey Fuette and Janet

Peterson each scored as the Lightning finished with a 4-4 record, good

for third place in the league standings. Jessica Goud and Gena Johnson

shared goal-tending duties and the shutout. Megan Ball, Blair Connors,

Tara Fox, Danae Lucas, Caitlin McGinnis, Hilary Pohlman, Lindsey Rodgers,

Samantha Serrano, Lauren Stimmler and Krista Thompson all had a hand in

the victory.
