Girls golf: Sea Kings end season in CIF championships

Corona del Mar High juniors Jackie McCoy and Jennifer Woo and

freshman Katie Albright fared well, but did not advance after the CIF

Southern Section Individual Championships Thursday at Mission Lakes

Country Club in Desert Hot Springs.

McCoy shot 94 on the par-72 course, while Albright came in with 99 and

Woo with 72, as they competed among 120 golfers. Nicole Smith of Martin

Luther King earned medalist honors, shooting two-under. A 79 or better

was needed to qualify for state competition.

“I’m really happy because none of my girls have played that course

before and they’re all coming back next year,” CdM Coach Mike

Starkweather said of the Sea King trio.
