Senior Chris Kirchwehm scored four goals to lead seventh-ranked UC

Irvine to a 10-4 victory over No. 9 UC Santa Barbara in a nonconference

men’s water polo game at Anteater Aquatics Complex Saturday.

Sophomore Garrett Gentry and freshman Dreason Barry added two goals

apiece as the Anteaters improved to 6-12 overall. Junior goalie Doug

Finfrock recorded 12 saves in the season’s home finale for UCI.

Coach Ted Newland’s Anteaters led 3-1 at halftime before Gentry and

Kirchwehm scored back-to-back goals in the third quarter for some

breathing room (5-1). In the fourth quarter Kirchwehm and Barry scored

two goals apiece to break in open.

Both teams compete in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation

tournament at Berkeley next weekend. UCI faces Pacific at 9:30 a.m.

Friday.
