James J. Di Cesare of Corona del Mar was appointed by Gov. Gray Davis

to the Orange County Superior Court. He was enrobed at a ceremony

Thursday in Santa Ana. Di Cesare has practiced law in Orange County for

28 years and is a board member for the Public Law Center in Orange

County, the Legal Aid Society and the Gray Legion Lex American Inns of

Court. He is also a past president and board member of the Orange County

Trial Lawyers Assn. and past board member of the California Consumer

Attorneys. Di Cesare and wife Donna have lived in Corona del Mar for 15

years and have four children who have attended Corona del Mar High

School. . . . Board certified plastic surgeon M. Hakeem was appointed to

the board of advisors for the Anti-Aging Institute in Newport Beach.

Hakeem’s primary office is in Newport Beach, he also has offices in Santa

Ana and Lakewood. In his new role, Hakeem will serve as a specialist in

the field of aesthetic plastic surgery with an interest in facial

endoscopic surgery. The board is comprised of experts in the fields of

skin restoration, plastic surgery, cosmetic dentistry, anti-aging and

preventive medicine, laser surgery, chiropractic care, and psychological

intervention and treatment. . . . Newport Beach resident Sharon Turner

received an outstanding volunteer award at the one-day Shopping Benefit

held at Bloomingdale’s at Fashion Island, with proceeds from the event

benefiting the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Turner serves as

legal counsel for the foundation’s Orange County affiliate, reviewing

contracts and advising the foundation on such issues as copyrights and

real estate. She served on the VIP committee for the Komen Foundation’s

Race for the Cure held Sept. 23 in Newport Beach, and she also volunteers

her time for the PTA at Corona del Mar High School. . . . Perry B.

Sheidayi announced the opening of his private practice in Newport Beach

dedicated to patient care using osteopathic medicine. His practice

focuses on family care and pediatrics, using the hands to diagnose injury

and illness. His practice is at 320 Superior Ave., Suite 300, Newport

Beach, and is able to provide referrals to specialists or Hoag Hospital

and Irvine Regional Medical Center. Sheidayi is board certified in family

practice and osteopathic manipulative medicine. . . . Edward Sheen, son

of Susan Kuo Paul Sheen of Corona del Mar, has been chosen to be a peer

academic advisor in Brown University’s 2001-02 Meiklejohn Program. Sheen

was selected based on his knowledge of Brown’s curriculum and his ability

to relate to beginning students. The program helps first-year students in

academic planning. Sheen is a first-semester senior, concentrating on

public policy and American institutions.
