South Coast Repertory was selected as one of five recipients of the

AT&T;: OnStage grant for new plays produced in the 2001-02 season.

Horton Foote’s “Getting Frankie Married,” which will run March 29

through May 5, will be supported by the award. Theaters were chosen on

the basis of artistic achievement, commitment to new work and productions

involving women and artists of diverse cultures.

Other recipients this year include the McCarter Theatre in Princeton,

N.J.; the Seattle Children’s Theatre; the Wilma Theater in Philadelphia;

and the Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.

Musicians hold an Orange County bash

The 31st annual Orange County Musicians’ Festival will be held from

noon to midnight Sunday at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Tennis

Club in Newport Beach.

More than 300 musicians on four stages will perform in genres

including big band, jazz, classical, blues, swing and more.

Performance added for Monheit at the Center

An extra performance has been added to jazz vocalist Jane Monheit’s

appearances for the Scott’s Seafood Jazz Club series in February at the

Orange County Performing Arts Center because of popular ticket demands.

Monheit will now perform at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Feb. 1-2, and at 7 p.m.

Feb. 3 at Founders Hall, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa Mesa.
