WEATHER FORECAST

Can we say brrrr? Temperatures will actually drop into the 40s in the

early morning today as Newport-Mesa weathers its first storm of the

holiday season. Morning rain should lead to cool, but only partly cloudy,

skies in the afternoon.

The high of the day is expected to be 62 at around 2 p.m. Temperatures

will mostly be in the upper 50s, lower 60s.

BOATING FORECAST

There is a small craft advisory today.

Close to shore, expect winds to blow from the northwest at 10 to 15

knots, becoming light overnight. There will be wind waves of 1 to 2 feet

and a western swell of 5 to 8 feet.

Further out, the morning finds us with winds from the northwest at 15

to 25 knots and wind waves of 2 to 4 feet. There will also be a northwest

swell of 12 to 14 feet, subsiding to 10 feet late. The winds should also

subside at night, blowing at 10 to 15 knots with wind waves of 1 to 2

feet.

SURF

That west-northwest swell is just going, going, close to being gone.

Expect it to fade some more today, which probably won’t matter with

stormy conditions making it hard to surf.
