-- Compiled by the Daily Pilot staff

By the time Pilot Editor Tony Dodero reads this, he’ll already have

seen the sign.

Left on Friday by Greenlight supporter Tom Hyans, it’s the one that

was on seemingly every street corner last week. You know the one: “Daily

Pilot Says Yes on G.”

At press time Friday, the sign was propped up against our editor’s

door. (Yes, he took the day after Thanksgiving off while many of us

worked furiously to produce your Saturday, Sunday and Monday papers. And,

yes, we guess that’s even worse than the incident mentioned at the bottom

of today’s “From the Newsroom.”)

Facing the newsroom was the sign as everyone throughout Newport Beach

saw it in the days leading up to last week’s Greenlight vote on the Koll

project.

But on the other side, hidden against the door, Hyans had covered over

the “Yes on G” part.

Apparently, there’s a new motto to look for:

“Daily Pilot Says Oops Again.”

In our defense, 40.5% of voters agreed with us on this one, up from

36.6% in last year’s Greenlight election.
