AYSO Region 120: Patriots win battle against Fireballs

Mitch Pfautz, Jensen Iverson and Aaron Gallardo scored goals to

lead the Patriots to a 3-0 victory over the Green Fireballs in an AYSO

Region 120 boys under-10 championship soccer game Nov. 17.

Kevin Le made key saves in the net to earn the shutout. Matt Logue,

Jayson Nguyen, Preston Schow, Eric Gallardo and Cory Frino were strong on

defense.

In boys under-13 action:

* Costa Mesa APP Thunderhawks 4, Newport Beach 2 - Newport Beach took

a 2-0 lead, but Hayden Hiatt’s goal toward the end of the first half

sparked the Thunderhawks.

Alberto Nava set up the tying goal by Rigo Miranda early in the second

half. The victory was secured on a scoring cross from Benny Edles to

Austin Evett. William Briseno added the final goal late in the game.

Starnes Arnold, Matt Grella, Edles and Luis Cozza dominated in midfield.

Contributing on defense were Ben Abbott, Caleb Burgess, Kenneth Zich

and Adam Seagondollar. Goalkeeper Thomas Kosnosky shut out Newport in the

second half.
