Community college women’s basketball: Pirates win sixth straight

COSTA MESA - Despite shooting 27% from the field, the Orange Coast

College women’s basketball team won its sixth straight game, a 52-48

nonconference victory over visiting Santa Barbara Tuesday.

Sophomore Kyra Melville, one of just two returners, led the Pirates

(6-1) with 10 points and eight rebounds, while freshman Nancy Hatsushi

scored seven and dished out five assists.

Santa Barbara dropped to 4-3.

The Pirates return to action Thursday at 4 p.m., when they take on

Napa Valley in the opening round of the Cuesta Tournament.
