Internal medicine physician Lori Hickson joined the Newport Center

Medical Group on Oct. 8. She was formerly with Cigna Healthcare of

Arizona at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mesa and medical centers in Phoenix.

Hickson is a staff member at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. She

completed her residency in primary care, internal medicine with McGraw

Medical Center of Northwestern University in Chicago. Newport Center

Medical Group is in Newport Beach. Nine internal medicine physicians

provide comprehensive and personalized care. . . . Newport Beach medical

practice administrator Frederick L. Saunders Jr. was elected to fellow

status in the American College of Medical Practice Executives at a

ceremony Oct. 23 during the 75th annual convention of the Medical Group

Management Assn. meeting in San Antonio. Fellow is the highest rank in

the practice, and Saunders is one of 517 medical practice administrators

to earn the distinction. The award was given based on Saunders’

completion of comprehensive testing, demonstration of management skills

and his contribution to the medical practice management profession.

Saunders is a medical practice administrator with Newport Center Medical

Group. . . . Fernando Calderon was named the newest associate at the

landscape architecture, interior and management firm Robbins Jorgensen

Christopher, which has offices in Newport Beach. Calderon has been

involved with many of the firm’s multimillion-dollar design projects,

including the Integrated Systems Laboratory in Port Hueneme. During his

time at the firm, Calderon has shown leadership skills in mentoring

younger staff members and overseeing the timely and efficient completion

of many projects. . . . FountainGlen Properties Operating Officer

Kimberly Solbakk was selected to head the Senior Housing Council, the

Orange County-based nonprofit organization, as its president in 2002.

Solbakk, along with the other members of the council’s board of

directors, were named to their positions at the council’s awards dinner

Nov. 14 at the Turnip Rose in Newport Beach. Solbakk has been in the real

estate industry for 20 years and has been a council board member for the

past six years. She is responsible for the overall management and

operations for FountainGlen’s portfolio of 2,522 senior apartments.

FountainGlen is a private firm that develops and invests in apartment

communities for active seniors.
