Army Spec. Elliot Grothe has been decorated with the Army Commendation

Medal for dutifully completing a military obligation or term of service

in a commendable and distinguished manner. The medal is awarded for

demonstrating outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the

performance duties on behalf of the Army. Grothe received the medal while

assigned as a senior computer operator with the 2nd Battalion, 5th Field

Artillery, Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. He is the son of Melissa Timmen of

Huntington Beach. . . . Navy Ensign Deanna Christensen recently reported

for duty with Patrol Squadron 47, Marine Corps Base, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

Christensen is the daughter of Michael Liebherr of Huntington Beach and

Linda Christensen of La Verne. She is a 1989 graduate of Bonita High

School and a 1993 graduate of the UC San Diego. . . .
